Paramedic Students and their
Mental Readiness for Fieldwork

​Participant Recruitment Information:

We are seeking participants for a 60-minute Zoom focus group.

Recruitment criteria:
• Enrolled in a primary care paramedic program.
• Have no previous emergency services experience
• Have completed at least one month of didactic course work

​The focus group will have questions surrounding mental health in the curriculum, and
mental health preparedness.

Simone Sudom-Young BSW, RSW-MSW Student, Social Work
Simone Sudom-Young is a Master of Social Work student at the University of Regina. Her thesis
is exploring the perception of mental health preparedness of paramedic students. Simone has
been a practicing paramedic for over a decade, in various sectors across Saskatchewan. As a
social worker, Simone currently works as a mental health therapist with the Saskatchewan Health
Authority.
